Dr. Md Tanvir Hasan is currently an Associate Professor and Co-Director of Centre of Excellence for Urban Equity and Health (CUEH) at BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University. He has nearly 10 years of teaching and research experience. He teaches Biostatistics in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme at BRAC JPGSPH, BRAC University. Besides teaching, he is currently leading two research projects as Principal Investigator (PI) and one as Co-PI. One of the projects he leads focuses on managing impact of COVID-19 in Rohingya refugee camps and host communities with culturally appropriate technological solutions. Another one is a mixed-methods evaluation research that aims at examining the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a biometrically enabled mHealth system to improve maternal and child health outcomes in 36 districts of Bangladesh. His expertise is in advanced statistical analysis, mixed methods research, evaluation research and spatial epidemiological research. His research work focuses on maternal and child health and nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and rights of persons with disabilities, informal providers in health care delivery, health and well-being of ready-made garments workers and stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
