Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction (UPPR)

Overview
This project, conducted from October-November 2012, endeavoured to look at a large poverty reduction project located in Barisal and Tongi, Bangladesh working on both infrastructure and health improvement for the underprivileged.

Key findings relate to the understanding that mobilizing communities around tangible benefits are easier than around health. There are still gaps in understanding among the community that health concerns are broader than just delivery of curative services. The important involvement of influential and trusted community members in articulating the needs of the poorest was recognised by those requiring representation.
